Heat Pumps for Bungalows
From £399 after the £9,000 grant*
Heating your bungalow with oil or LPG? The Boiler Upgrade Scheme pays £9,000 towards an air source heat pump for homes off mains gas, in England and Wales.
With the grant, a heat pump for your bungalow starts at £399, supplied and fitted.
- No more oil or LPG deliveries to order and pay for
- No EPC needed, we handle the Ofgem paperwork
- £9,000 grant ends 31 March 2027, first come, first served
*From £399 after the £9,000 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, supplied and fitted, for bungalows off mains gas replacing oil or LPG heating (England and Wales, until 31 March 2027). Electric and mains gas homes get £7,500, so their price is different. Eligibility and exact price are confirmed at your free survey.
Heating your bungalow with oil or LPG? You could qualify.
Bungalows off mains gas that swap an oil or LPG boiler for a heat pump get the £9,000 grant until 31 March 2027, which is what brings our price down to from £399. Funding is budget-capped and allocated first come, first served, so it pays to apply early. On mains gas or electric heating? You get the £7,500 grant and a fixed price online. The four eligibility checks confirm the rest.

Is a heat pump a good fit for a bungalow?
Usually, yes. A bungalow has every radiator on one floor and short pipe runs, so the heating is simple to design and fit. There is normally space outside for the unit along a side wall or by the drive, and the loft is easy to reach if the insulation needs topping up.
If you heat with oil or LPG, a heat pump also means no more fuel deliveries to order, store and pay for in one go. It runs on electricity and gives you heating and hot water all year. We size it with a room-by-room heat-loss calculation, and the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant comes off what you pay. See all the air source heat pumps we install.
What's included with a bungalow heat pump from UKEM?
Supply, design, MCS install, the Ofgem grant application, warranty registration, and aftercare. One price covers the lot.
-
Heat pump supplied and fitted
An air source heat pump sized to your bungalow's heat loss, replacing your oil or LPG boiler, with a hot water cylinder where your home needs one.
-
Full heating system design
A room-by-room heat-loss calculation to MCS standards, so the unit and radiators are matched to your home before we order kit.
-
MCS-certified installation
Fitted and commissioned by our certified engineers, with an MCS certificate and a full handover pack on the day.
-
Grant application managed for you
We submit the Ofgem Boiler Upgrade Scheme paperwork, then take the grant off our price up front, so there is no rebate to wait for.

-
Ongoing aftercare and support
A dedicated aftercare team after install if you need help with the controls, the app, or booking a service visit.
Which bungalows qualify for the from £399 offer?
Four checks. If your bungalow ticks them, the £9,000 grant is on the table.
A bungalow you own in England or Wales
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme covers England and Wales and is claimed by the property owner. In Scotland, the route is Home Energy Scotland.
Oil or LPG heating, off mains gas
Swapping an oil or LPG boiler in a home with no mains gas qualifies for the £9,000 grant until 31 March 2027. Other heating qualifies at £7,500.
No EPC needed
Since 28 April 2026 you don't need an Energy Performance Certificate to claim the grant. We gather the evidence Ofgem asks for and submit it.
Space for the unit
The outdoor unit needs a spot against an outside wall with clear airflow, plus room indoors for a hot water cylinder. We check both at your free survey.
How do you get a heat pump for your bungalow?
Three steps. You sign one form, we do the rest.
- 01
Check eligibility in 2 minutes
Tell us about your bungalow and current heating to see if you qualify for the £9,000 grant. There is no payment and no obligation; our team then calls you.
- 02
Free survey and paperwork
An engineer surveys your bungalow, designs the system, and confirms your grant and exact price. We submit the Boiler Upgrade Scheme application to Ofgem.
- 03
Installation
We fit and commission the system and register the warranty. Most installs finish in 2 to 4 days, and the grant comes off our price, so there is nothing to claim back.
Bungalow on mains gas or electric? You still get £7,500 off.
The from £399 offer is for oil and LPG swaps. Every other eligible bungalow gets the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant, with heat pumps from £4,000 after the grant. Answer a few questions and see your own fixed price online.
What do bungalow owners ask about heat pumps?
Straight answers on suitability, price and the grant.
Is a heat pump suitable for a bungalow?
Yes, in most cases. A bungalow has all its radiators on one floor, short pipe runs and usually some outdoor space for the unit, which makes the installation simpler than in many two-storey homes. Our survey includes a room-by-room heat-loss calculation, so the heat pump and radiators are sized to your home before anything is ordered. Our guide to whether your home suits a heat pump covers the checks in detail.
Who gets the from £399 price?
Bungalows that are off mains gas and replace oil or LPG heating. Those homes qualify for the £9,000 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant in England and Wales until 31 March 2027, and after the grant our price starts at £399, supplied and fitted. It is a "from" price: we confirm your eligibility and exact price at your free survey.
How much does a heat pump cost for a 2 or 3 bed bungalow?
Prices start from £399, supplied and fitted. What you pay depends mainly on the heating you are replacing, because the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant varies: £9,000 when a bungalow off mains gas replaces oil or LPG, and £7,500 for mains gas or electric heating. The size of system your bungalow needs also plays a part, and that comes from its heat loss more than the number of bedrooms. We confirm your exact price at your free survey.
Is a heat pump cheaper to run than an oil or LPG boiler?
Yes, with the proper setup. Oil and LPG homes usually see the biggest running-cost win from a heat pump, and there are no fuel deliveries to pay for up front. The setup matters: a heat pump sized to your bungalow's heat loss, radiators matched to it, sensible insulation and a heat pump electricity tariff. We design all of that at your survey. Our guide to heat pump running costs shows the sums, and our article on the £9,000 grant for oil and LPG homes explains the funding.
My bungalow is on mains gas or electric heating. Can I still get a heat pump?
Yes. Those homes qualify for the £7,500 grant instead, so the price is different. You can get a fixed price online in a few minutes with our air source heat pump quote.
Will I need new radiators?
Sometimes. Heat pumps run at lower temperatures than an oil or LPG boiler, so some rooms may need a larger radiator. The heat-loss calculation at your survey shows which, if any, need changing, and that is built into your price. See our guide to heat pump radiators.
Where does the heat pump go on a bungalow?
The outdoor unit sits on a small base against an outside wall, often at the side or back of the bungalow, with clear space in front for airflow. Inside, you need room for a hot water cylinder if you do not already have one. We agree both positions with you at the survey.
Do I need an EPC to get the grant?
No. Since 28 April 2026 the Boiler Upgrade Scheme no longer requires an Energy Performance Certificate. Read more on our Boiler Upgrade Scheme page.
