The work

What you'll be installing

We allocate jobs across our five home-energy product lines. Tick the ones you're certified for during onboarding.

  • Solar PV

    Rooftop and ground-mount installations.

  • Air Source Heat Pumps

    Domestic ASHP install and commissioning.

  • Battery Storage

    Home battery storage installations.

  • EV Chargers

    Home and light commercial chargepoints.

  • Boilers and Heating

Gas boiler swaps and heating systems.

The work, end to end

What kind of work you'll get

Customer-paid installs, not raw enquiries. Sold, scheduled, ready to fit.

  • Quoted by UKEM

Every job is priced and contracted with the customer before it reaches you. You're attending to install, not to estimate.

  • Customer-paid

UKEM holds the customer relationship and the receivable. You invoice UKEM, not the homeowner.

  • Surveyed where required

Solar, battery, EV charger and boiler swaps usually don't need a separate survey visit. Heat pump installs require an MCS survey; we confirm per job whether it's done by UKEM, by you, or by a partner.

  • Equipment supplied

What UKEM supplies and what you source varies by job. The contract for each install lists what we deliver and what you provide, including ancillaries, so the scope is clear before you attend.

Common questions

Before you apply

The full subcontractor agreement is shared inside the Installer Hub for review and electronic signing.

What are your installer rates?
Rates vary by product line, scope, region and committed capacity, so we don't publish a single rate card. The full schedule of rates sits inside the subcontractor agreement, which is shared in the Installer Hub for review and electronic signing once your application is approved. You see the rates before you sign, with no obligation to proceed.
Who can apply to the Installer Hub?
Limited companies and sole traders registered in England, Scotland or Wales, holding the trade certifications for the services you intend to install. Our compliance team verifies every application before allocating work, usually within 72 hours of submission.
What insurance and accreditations do I need to hold?
You'll need industry-standard insurance cover (public liability, product liability, professional indemnity, and employer's liability where you have employees), at the minimums set out in your subcontractor agreement. Accreditations: MCS, Gas Safe, NICEIC, TrustMark and RECC (or equivalent successor schemes), as applicable to the services you tick. We confirm the specific scheme and cover requirements for your service lines during onboarding.
Are jobs quoted and surveyed before they reach me?
Yes. UKEM quotes and contracts with the customer before allocation. Heat pump installs require an MCS-compliant survey under scheme rules; depending on how a job is set up, that survey may be carried out by UKEM, by you, or by another partner. We confirm the survey arrangement per job. Standard solar, battery, EV charger and boiler swaps don't usually require a separate survey visit.
When and how do I get paid?
You raise an invoice once the customer has signed off the installation (signed completion form, SMS, email or in-app confirmation). UKEM pays properly submitted invoices on the net payment terms set out in your agreement. There are no deposits or stage payments; you are paid in full on completion sign-off.
How do VAT and CIS apply?
All rates are exclusive of VAT. If you're VAT-registered, VAT is added on a valid invoice at the prevailing rate. Where the Construction Industry Scheme applies to the work, UKEM verifies your CIS status with HMRC and handles any deduction in line with the regulations. You remain responsible for your own tax affairs.
Can I keep my own customers and work with other companies?
Yes. The engagement is non-exclusive. You can keep your own customers and work with other companies during and after the engagement. The agreement has standard confidentiality and anti-circumvention terms covering UKEM-introduced leads and Confidential Information; outside those, your wider business stays your own.
What's the aftercare expectation on installs?
You are responsible for workmanship aftercare on your installs for the aftercare period set out in your agreement. Manufacturer warranties on the equipment apply separately and are not reduced by this. The agreement sets out response timeframes by severity, with safety issues first, functional defects next, and paperwork or cosmetic items last.
Can I use a substitute team or subcontract the work?
With prior written approval. Any substitute must hold the equivalent certifications and meet the same standards. You stay responsible for the work delivered under your account.
