What each certification protects

What our certifications mean for you

How these standards protect your installation, your home, and your investment.

What protection do I have if something goes wrong?
Multiple layers. TrustMark provides a government-endorsed guarantee and financial protection. The Consumer Protection Association (CPA) provides insurance-backed guarantees and deposit protection on money you pay before installation. TrustMark and RECC also apply deposit safeguards for member companies, so if work has not started and something goes wrong, you can recover funds through the relevant scheme. RECC covers renewable energy installations with its own dispute resolution. Your statutory consumer rights apply on top of all of these.
What if UKEM is no longer trading when I need to claim on the warranty?
This is exactly what insurance-backed guarantees are for. Your workmanship warranty is underwritten by an independent insurer through TrustMark and the Consumer Protection Association. If we are no longer trading, the policy still stands and you can claim on it directly. RECC provides equivalent protection for renewable energy installations.
What happens if we disagree and cannot sort it out between us?
Talk to us first. Email customercare@ukem.co.uk and we will work with you to put it right. Most issues are resolved this way, and the full steps are set out in our complaints procedure. If we cannot agree an outcome, you can escalate for free. For installation or workmanship, TrustMark, the Consumer Protection Association, and RECC (renewables) each run their own dispute resolution. For finance or credit, raise it with the lender named on your agreement first, then escalate to the Financial Ombudsman Service for free (financial-ombudsman.org.uk, 0800 023 4567).
Can a certification be taken away from you?
Yes, and that is the point. ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 are reaudited every year by an external assessor, with surveillance visits in between. CHAS, TrustMark, MCS, NAPIT, Gas Safe, and the others all run their own renewal cycles and inspection regimes. If standards slip, a certification can be suspended or withdrawn, which is why the verify links on this page point to the official registries rather than to us.
How do I know these certifications are genuine?
Every certification on this page that has a public register includes a direct "Verify" link to the official registry. You can look us up independently on each one. These are run by the certification and registration bodies themselves, not by us.
